Some time ago code hinting in Flash just stopped working for me. Pretty anoying if you get used to that feature and you are working on a large project with many classes. In AS code editor, in right bottom corner, I noticed small triangle with an exclamation mark. Hovered it displayed tooltip: “Unable to build code hint cache. Please save the associated FLA into a different folder. There are too many files on the classpath.”<\/p>\n

The error is self explanatory, however changing setting required a bit of googling. :)<\/p>\n

Windows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Open Regedit and navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Flash 11 > Settings<\/li>\n
  2. Right+click and choose: \u2018New\u2026 > DWORD Value\u2019<\/li>\n
  3. Rename the key: Project File Cap<\/li>\n
  4. Select the key and choose: \u2018Modify\u2019<\/li>\n
  5. Edit the value (I’ve put: 5000)<\/li>\n
  6. Click OK and restart Flash<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Mac:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Open \/Users\/\/Library\/Preferences\/Flash CS5 Preferences in Text Edit<\/li>\n
    2. Under the section add the following: 5000<\/project_file_cap><\/li>\n
    3. Save the file and restart Flash<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If you wish to reset your code-hint cache, do this:<\/p>\n

      1. Quit Flash.<\/li>\n
      2. Delete the following folder:\n

        Win Vista\/Win7: “C:\\Users\\{username}\\AppData\\Local\\Adobe\\Flash CS5\\language\\Configuration\\CodeModel”
        \nWin XP: “C:\\Documents and Settings\\{username}\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\Adobe\\Flash CS5\\language\\Configuration\\CodeModel”
