    We got Super Mario

So anyways, it is bleedin' hot outside, therefore, logical conclusion is that I should make Super Mario out of Post-It papers on the wall. Check it:

    Super Mario

It really looks awesome in our chill out ... sorry, I mean, in our conference room.
    Super Mario

So how are you spending your hot hot hot summer days?

Woot! Woot! Who let the designers out!?

  • Turkish coffee tastes somewhat strange today

This must be the best comic ever released by my favorite Croatian cartoonist NikTitanik. It helped me to get over the shock and disappointment of Turkish victory against Croatian football team in 120 minute.

The translation would go something like:
Joe, does Turkish coffee have strange taste today to you as well?

    Digg is not crisp too

As expected, with public release of Firefox3 people are starting to complain that more and more sites look blurry. Entire communities based on pixel art, and pixel perfect websites are completely enraged by the bug in Firefox 3 that causes images to become blurry. We have reported this problem to Mozilla during Beta 5 stage when they introduced Cairo rendering engine, and this bug persisted to release.

And then, from the heavens came this:

    Blurry Digg

Not even the mighty Digg could escape the Firefox 3 rendering bug. Maybe the pressure from Digg team could do something to quicken the Mozilla to release quick update to fix this issue, since by now it is well known to all web developers why is this happening.

All we know is that Firefox 3, as good as it is, is pissing people off all around the globe.

  • Oh-noz Space

Last couple of weeks I kept hearing about upcoming MySpace.com redesign. Well, it came.

I don't know if it is only me or what, but can somebody explain to me why did they leave a hole in the center of the site? And how about ever present position: fixed; McDonald's banner? Nifty. "I am NOT lovin it". :)

I really never ever liked MySpace, quite opposite in fact. To me MySpace makes Geocities free hosted websites look good. :) So much trash in one place....at the same time! I can tolerate awful background images ppl can put into their profile, I can try to avoid epilepsy by ignoring blinking bling bling animated gifs, insane colors and tons and tons of flash slideshows... but mp3 player is where I draw a big fat line. Man, I can't stand hearing all that garbage ppl put in their playlists.

I wonder if makers of MySpace really did want to make a trash site, or things just got out of control by itself? This trash quality is really hard to achieve and I give them respect for that.

    Firefox 3 blurring mystery

It seems that we are not alone in the universe with blurring small icons in Firefox 3 bug. Cairo rendering engine freaks out on number rounding if background image in css is centered and height of an image is even number. Check out our Nivas Firefox 3 icon blurring test. Problem is classified as Bug 433640 on Bugzilla. It's too late for Firefox 3 at this point but Mozilla dev will implemented the fix in v3.0.1. It's interesting to see that Daemon first wrote about this on April 8th and Mozilla first acknowledged it on May 13th. Well, another mystery well solved! Next! :)

ps. check out FF3 easter eg - enter "about:robots" in address bar (without quotes). hihi! :)

Firefox 3 release party in Slovenia

The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17 (huh which is tomorrow). Community is climaxing, and a mission to enter Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours is set! It's also nice to see that something is happening in the neighborhood. Kiberpipa and Information Science Students Association of Faculty of Computer and Information Science students from University of Ljubljana, announced Firefox 3 Release Party 2008 which will be held June 24, 2008 in Ljubljana. The guest of honor will be Tristan Nitot, president of Mozilla Europe.

Daemon, maybe we could crash the party and have a chat with mr. Tristan regarding icon blurring? :)

FireFox 3 Release candidate 3 – rendering still screwed up

Related to the post i made some time ago, while Beta 5 was popular, the newly released RC3 is still blurring small icons. New rendering engine is just not good in dealing with small stuff.

Is it can be fix tiem now plees?
Because if this stays in the official release, we are all doomed.

  • Recover your stolen Mac, anywhere in the universe

I don't use Mac at all, so if it wasn't for BrainFuel's blog post I would completely miss craziest piece of OS X software - Undercover. It's a software that will help you find your stolen laptop. After you report it as stolen online on Orbicule website, Undercover transmits network information, he sends screen captures, he even turns on a webcam enabling you to see what's going on in evil villains lair. If recovery of the stolen Mac fails for any reason, Undercover has an ingenious plan B. It will simulate a hardware failure by gradually making the screen darker until it becomes unusable. Brilliant, just damn brilliant. :)

Proudly running on Word Press, and above all, proudly using Comic Sans.
